Introduction
The Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) has issued new guidance on delivery charges for products purchased online.
The guidance confirms that the ASA receives a fair number of complaints regarding delivery charges which highlights the care advertisers need to take.
Comment
The essence of the guidance is that claims made on websites at point of sale must be clear and not misleading so that consumers can make an informed purchasing decision. Delivery costs are material information and will affect a person’s decision as to whether to purchase the product.
If you sell products online, it is worth reading the guidance.
